Schalke
reach final of International Tournament!
The
club recently traveled (May 200) to Belgium to take part in a tournament
against local and other international sides. A mix of first
and second team players did the club proud by coming through
their group unbeaten to reach the final where we gave a
good account of ourselves before finally losing 2-0 to a
very impressive semi professional Belgian side. Well done
again to all who took part and contributed to a fantastic
trip..
Seconds
finish league campaign in sixth place. (May 2005)
The
second team finished their league campaign with a narrow
2-1 defeat away to a very strong Redcap Ramblers side who
ended the season as champions, winning 25 out of 26 league
games. The form showed by the second team over the last
six weeks gives great cause for optimism going into next
season - if we can keep the current squad together we will
definitely challenge for honours next year. Saturday also
saw the end of the reign of our esteemed manager Peter McDermott!
All of the second team squad would like to thank Peter for
his commitment (and patience!) throughout the season.

Christmas
6-a-Side Tournament
Jam Arse FC
won the Xmas Tournoi. The final did go
to penalties as JP's Wheel Warriors were much improved on
their first nights showing. Paul O'Neill and Stephen
O'Shea sealed the win with Shea saving well from Del and
Paul placing an accurate kick beyond the reach of Kevin
Ashe. Thanks to all who participated.

3 player of the year : Paul Lydon
Paul captained the Division 3 side to the League title and as cup runners up in the
Sydney Bedlow. Lydo's performances at centre half were stylish, controlled as he saved
the team on many occasions with perfectly timed tackles and headers. His distribution
was second to none and his was the most telling contribution as to a defence that was
the best in the league by 11 goals over 26 games. Mark Bates was second while Luke
Rogers finished third.
Division
3 Golden Boot : Brian Delaney
Brian Delany was awarded the golden boot with 15 goals from 25 Starts, Brian's goals
were a feature throughout the season, and his first in the final game against Brayzil
was paramount in Schalke's 2-0 victory to clinch the title. He finished two ahead of
second placed Mark Bates (13) who provided the most assists 13.
